MSN Messenger client
Project image
Type:C# .NET Windows Forms
Started:End of september 2004
Ended:Still under progress
It started with my desire to find out if Microsoft was using Messenger to exchange data between MS and client computer. One day I stumbled over http://www.hypothetic.org/docs/msn/ and decided to make my own client. At first I started to develop the client to support MSNP8 (version 8). At time of writing the newest version is MSNP10, but MSNP11 is around the corner, I think. Anyway the first stage was to write some basic connection classes and establish a connection to MS servers. Second, write classes that send data and responds to every command/message sent by MS servers. And last write GUI classes and tie all parts together.

Status: (2004-10-13)
It’s now possible to connect to a notification server, which is the connection to a server that holds data about who’s online ++. Some GUI elements must be developed before testing thoroughly. Still I have to create classes that handle switchboard sessions, which are chat room connections and GUI for chat windows. When I get all this to work I guess that will be all for version 1.0. In version 2.0 I’ll go from MSNP8 to MSNP10/11 and develop more features like file transfer, display picture, webcam ++.

Do you want to test my client, please contact me :)
My good friend Tarjei Mandt has designed the application (As you might already have guessed). Thanks mate! I really suck when it comes to designing.
